Patients and their relatives at Paphos General Hospital have reported that newly acquired mobile medical tables are effectively unusable due to defective wheels. These tables are essential for supporting equipment required for dialysis, blood transfusions, and other critical nursing care, yet patients are currently being forced to manually carry the loaded equipment by hand.

DIKO MP for Paphos, Chrysanthos Savvides, confirmed the reports on July 28, 2026, after receiving numerous complaints from families of affected patients. The malfunction, which prevents the tables from rolling, has caused significant distress to individuals undergoing treatment. Savvides has initiated formal communication with the State Health Services Organisation (SHSO) to demand an urgent replacement of the equipment.

Beyond immediate replacement, Savvides is calling for an investigation into how a batch of defective medical equipment was accepted and deployed within the hospital without prior quality control. The hospital management is expected to address these concerns as the legislative representative pushes for a resolution to ensure patient safety and proper care standards.
