Four British nationals arrested at Paphos airport for tobacco smuggling

On July 27, 2026, customs officials at Paphos International Airport intercepted four British nationals attempting to depart for Manchester, United Kingdom, with a large quantity of illicit tobacco products. The passengers were identified following an intelligence-led operation conducted by local authorities.

Upon inspection of their luggage, officials discovered a total of 125.35 kilograms of rolling tobacco, comprising 2,507 individual packages. These items lacked the mandatory Greek and Turkish-language health warnings, as well as the required security features and traceability codes, confirming the cargo was untaxed and smuggled.
