Limassol municipality proposes new multimodal mobility hub

The Municipality of Limassol has initiated a public consultation regarding the development of a new multimodal mobility hub located on Spilion Street. The preliminary designs for the project, situated on a Turkish Cypriot land plot near Nikou Pattichi, were presented on Friday, July 24, 2026, by lead contractor and planner Georgia Loizou at the Panos Solomonides Cultural Centre.

The project aims to alleviate urban traffic congestion and reduce carbon emissions by integrating public transport, car-sharing services, electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle systems, and taxis. Beyond functioning as a Park & Ride station, the facility is envisioned as a multi-functional urban space featuring waiting areas, sanitary facilities, and a cafe to serve both residents and commuters.

During the public consultation, local authorities and stakeholders discussed the project's design and implementation, providing an opportunity for citizens to submit suggestions. This initiative is part of a broader municipal strategy to improve urban accessibility and promote sustainable transport solutions, ultimately intending to transition commuters away from private vehicle dependency when traveling to the city center.
