Department of Meteorology issues yellow warnings for high temperatures

The Cyprus Department of Meteorology has issued consecutive yellow warnings for extreme heat, with inland temperatures expected to peak at 40°C. Alerts were active from 14:00 to 16:30 on July 28 and extended to 17:00 for July 30. The weather conditions are driven by a seasonal low-pressure system and a warm air mass affecting the region.

Throughout this period, inland temperatures have remained consistent at 40°C. Coastal temperatures are forecast between 33°C and 37°C, while mountainous areas are expected to reach between 29°C and 30°C. Wind patterns generally feature light to moderate northwesterly to northeasterly breezes, occasionally shifting to southwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, with locally higher gusts in windward areas. The sea is consistently described as calm to slight.

The extended forecast indicates that mostly clear conditions will persist through the coming weekend. Meteorological reports confirm that temperatures will remain slightly above seasonal averages, with no significant relief or change in the weather pattern expected through Sunday.
