Marios Georgiou wins two silver medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games

Cypriot gymnast Marios Georgiou delivered a stellar performance at the 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on July 28, 2026, securing two silver medals. He earned his first silver of the day in the parallel bars final with a score of 13.800, followed shortly by another silver in the high bar event, where he achieved a score of 14.166. In the high bar competition, he missed the gold medal by just 0.067 points, which was awarded to Canadian athlete Felix Dolci.

These achievements bring Georgiou’s total tally to nine medals in Commonwealth Games history, a milestone he reportedly was not fully aware of himself. In addition to these medals, the athlete placed 4th in the individual all-around and 5th in the pommel horse earlier in the tournament. These wins significantly bolstered the medal count for the Cyprus Commonwealth Games Committee, which has now reached five medals total. The success was credited to the efforts of the athlete, his coach Panagiotis Petridis, and the Gymnastics Federation.
