Series of arson and vehicle fires reported across Cyprus

Several fire incidents occurred across Cyprus between July 28 and July 29, 2026, targeting commercial properties and private vehicles. In Nicosia, a printing house in Agios Dometios was destroyed by an arson attack around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, with individuals inside the building at the time narrowly escaping. Additionally, a car parked in a residential lot in Acropolis caught fire on Tuesday afternoon, while another vehicle in Paphos was set ablaze early Wednesday, leading to the arrest of a 35-year-old suspect who confessed to the crime following a domestic dispute with his mother.

In a separate incident in Aradippou, Larnaca, two telescopic forklifts and a tractor were extensively damaged by a fire that broke out at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Explosions were reported at the scene, likely caused by the vehicles' tires. Authorities are currently investigating the causes of the fires in Agios Dometios and Aradippou, reviewing CCTV footage and questioning owners to identify potential perpetrators or motives. No injuries were reported, though the property damage is considered extensive.
