Series of vehicle and building fires reported across Cyprus

A series of arson and fire incidents occurred across Cyprus between July 28 and 29, 2026, causing significant property damage. On Tuesday afternoon, a parked car caught fire in a covered parking lot in the Acropolis area of Nicosia, damaging the vehicle and the building's facade. Later, at approximately 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, a printing business in Agios Dometios was completely destroyed by a fire. Simultaneously, in Paphos, another vehicle parked outside a residence was reduced to ashes in an early morning blaze.

Furthermore, at 4:28 a.m. in Aradippou, Larnaca, a fire erupted in a parking area, destroying two telescopic forklifts and damaging two additional vehicles, including a tow truck. Reports indicate that explosions were heard during this incident, likely caused by the vehicles' tires. Authorities are actively investigating the causes of all these fires. The Nicosia Criminal Investigation Department is leading the probe into the printing shop incident, while examinations continue for the vehicle fires in Paphos and Larnaca. No arrests have been announced as of yet, and officials remain in the process of gathering evidence to identify potential perpetrators.
