Cypriot athletes compete at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

The 23rd Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, which commenced on July 23, 2026, continue with active participation from the Cypriot delegation. Recent events in swimming concluded on July 29, with Maria Erokhina securing 9th place in the 200m breaststroke, narrowly missing a spot in the final. Earlier in the competition, Alexandros Grigoriou also finished 9th in the 200m breaststroke, while Markos Iakovides and Anna Hadjiloizou represented Cyprus in various sprint events.

In athletics, Olivia Fotopoulou successfully advanced to the 200m semi-finals on July 29, finishing second in her heat with a time of 23.62 seconds, ranking 14th out of 35 participants. Additionally, Petros Michailidis qualified for the men's shot put final after a consistent performance. Both athletes are scheduled to compete again on Thursday, July 30, with Michailidis aiming for success in the shot put final at 21:00 and Fotopoulou racing in the 200m semi-finals at 22:05.
