Limassol unveils plans for new multimodal transport hub

The Municipality of Limassol has introduced a preliminary project for a new multimodal transport hub aimed at reducing traffic congestion and lowering vehicle emissions. While sources provided slightly different locations—one citing Spilion Street and another mentioning the vicinity of Nikou Pattichi Avenue—the facility is designed as a Park & Ride center. The project, valued at 2 million euros, seeks to encourage residents to leave personal vehicles at the periphery and complete their journey into the city center using public buses, taxis, shared bicycles, or electric scooters.

The hub is intended to serve as a comprehensive public space rather than just a transit terminal. Proposed amenities include electric vehicle charging stations, waiting areas, restrooms, a children’s playground, an outdoor gym, and shaded recreational zones. Local authorities recently held a presentation at the Panos Solomonidis Cultural Centre to gather public feedback and suggestions regarding the design.

Currently, the project remains in the planning phase. Following the formal approval process, municipal authorities will initiate a tender to select a contractor. Once a developer is finalized, the construction phase is estimated to take approximately seven months to complete.
