Former Omonia player Akinkunmi Amoo wanted internationally by Danish authorities

Akinkunmi Amoo, a 24-year-old former player for Omonia, Hammarby, and FC Copenhagen, is currently wanted internationally by Danish authorities. The international arrest warrant was issued after the player failed to serve a one-year prison sentence handed down to him in 2023 for convictions including sexual assault and rape.

Amoo, who joined FC Copenhagen in January 2022 following two seasons at Hammarby, was convicted by a Danish court for his actions while under contract with the club. According to Copenhagen police, the defendant has been placed in custody in absentia to ensure the execution of the sentence.

Law enforcement and prosecutors in Denmark are actively seeking his transfer to the country to carry out the court-mandated prison term. Officials indicated that since the individual is believed to be abroad, standard international legal procedures are being followed to secure his detention and extradition.
