Police crackdown on electric scooters in Paphos

Paphos authorities and the police launched a targeted operation on Wednesday evening along the city’s coastal front to address the rising number of injuries and illegal use of Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs), such as electric scooters. During the operation, officers issued citations to 20 individuals for various violations of the legislation governing the use of these devices. Additionally, three people were reported for riding on the harbor promenade, where such vehicles are prohibited, resulting in the immediate seizure of their scooters.

This crackdown follows a recent meeting at the Municipal Hall, chaired by Deputy Mayor Angelos Onisiforou and attended by representatives from the Municipal Traffic Department and the Paphos Police. The meeting established a plan for stricter enforcement of existing regulations to enhance public road safety. Police have announced that these inspections will continue, with further operations scheduled to ensure compliance among both individual users and rental companies in the city.
