Delays continue for the Ineia National Forest Park road project

On July 29, 2026, Ineia Deputy Mayor Giangos Tsivikos expressed deep frustration regarding the prolonged stagnation of the road network project connecting Peyia to Lara Bay. During an appearance on the programme “Proti Enimerosi”, he reported that the project has been effectively frozen for the past three years, creating significant safety risks for visitors due to the lack of proper traffic infrastructure.

Planning for the National Forest Park began in 2016, yet more than a decade later, the first phase remains incomplete. Following recent meetings with the Forestry Department and the Environment Service, local officials were informed that the work is tentatively scheduled to resume in October. This next phase aims to finalize the first stage and progress toward subsequent planned sections. Beyond infrastructure concerns, the community continues to advocate for regulated access to local beaches, asserting that sustainable human activity can be balanced with environmental and turtle protection.
