British woman found deceased in a suitcase in Athens

A 38-year-old British woman, born in February 1988, was found dead inside a suitcase on July 18, 2026, in an abandoned building on Evelpidon Street in the Kypseli neighborhood of Athens. The victim was identified through biometric data and fingerprints provided by Interpol’s Washington office, as she had previously resided in the United States. While early media reports incorrectly suggested she arrived in Greece via Cyprus, authorities have confirmed she traveled from Edinburgh, Scotland.

The victim had been staying with friends in Keratsini but left on July 15, informing them she was visiting acquaintances in Kypseli. Her body was discovered on Saturday, July 18, by a homeless man who alerted the police. Forensic examination revealed no obvious external injuries. Investigators have categorized the case as a homicide, noting that the woman's mobile phone continued to transmit a signal until the morning of Wednesday, July 22, providing investigators with critical data for tracking the crime.

The Hellenic Police are currently mapping her final movements, interviewing the friends she stayed with in Keratsini, and awaiting information from the airline to determine if she was accompanied.
