Authorities identify 38-year-old British woman found in suitcase in Athens

Greek police have identified a 38-year-old British woman whose remains were discovered inside a suitcase at an abandoned building on Evelpidon Street in the Kypseli neighborhood of Athens. The grim discovery was made on Saturday, July 18, when a person searching the derelict structure reported a foul odor and observed a human limb protruding from the suitcase. The victim, born in February 1988, was identified after Interpol offices in Washington confirmed her fingerprints against international databases.

Investigations revealed that the woman had traveled to Greece by air from the United States via Cyprus. Authorities are currently examining her travel history, checking airline data to determine if she was accompanied by anyone, and investigating whether she had made any accommodation bookings in Greece. While initial medical reports indicated no obvious trauma to the body, the remains were found in a state of advanced decomposition, with estimates suggesting death occurred approximately five to eight days prior to the discovery. The site where the suitcase was left is reportedly known to local authorities as a location frequented by drug users.
