Cyprus national U18 basketball team performance at the European Championship Division B
The Cyprus national U18 basketball team competed in the FIBA U18 European Championship Division B, held at the Zamet Sports Centre in Rijeka. Led by coach Dimitris Koukouris, the team faced a challenging group stage, recording losses against Belgium (74-122), Ireland (60-80), Great Britain (73-78), and the Netherlands (57-90). The group phase concluded with a narrow 63-66 defeat against Finland on July 30, despite strong individual efforts from players such as Giorgos Adamou Solomou, Konstantinos Nikolaou, and Artem Mikheev.
Following the group stage, Cyprus entered the classification round for positions 17 to 22. In a pivotal match held in Opatija, the national team secured a vital 72-63 victory against Sweden to ensure its continued presence in the Division B category. The match was defined by a strong first half and a decisive third quarter, during which back-to-back three-pointers by Konstantinos Koukouris and contributions from teammates including Kyriakos Konstantinou and Alexandros Konstantinou extended the lead to double digits. This win served as a significant recovery for the team following their winless streak in the preliminary rounds.
