Cyprus Fire Service acquires new mobile rescue trailer units

On July 29, 2026, the Cyprus Fire Service announced the acquisition of six enclosed trailer units designed for technical rescue operations. These mobile units are being deployed under the 'Epikentrosis' project, an initiative falling within the Interreg VI-A Greece–Cyprus 2021–2027 Cooperation Programme, which is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund and national resources from both countries.

The trailers will be distributed across the Republic of Cyprus, with one unit allocated to each Provincial Fire Station Directorate. Equipped with specialized tools for managing natural disasters and various other emergencies, the units are intended to improve response times and general operational readiness. Beyond domestic utility, the trailers are designed to allow the Cyprus Fire Service to assist other nations during major international emergencies.

The setup process, involving the installation of specialized rescue equipment, is being handled by the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) under the supervision of Commander Charalambos Charalambous. Chief Fire Officer Nikos Longinos recently conducted an inspection of the progress to ensure the units meet operational standards.
