ETEK concludes cycle of meetings with local authorities and EOA across Cyprus

On July 29, 2026, the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) concluded a series of provincial meetings by holding a final session with the District Self-Government Organizations (EOA) and local municipal authorities of Nicosia. This initiative, aimed at strengthening collaboration, involved discussions between ETEK’s General Council, led by President Constantinos Constanti, and key local leadership.

The meeting in Nicosia was attended by the President of EOA Nicosia, Constantinos Yiorkadjis, and the mayors of major municipalities including Haralambos Prountzos (Nicosia), Fotoula Chatzipapa (Lakatamia), Christos Pittaras (Latsia-Geri), Stavros Chatziyiannis (South Nicosia-Idali), and Stavros Stavrinides (Strovolos). Management staff from both the municipal authorities and the EOA were also present to contribute to the dialogue.

These discussions were part of a broader, country-wide outreach initiative by ETEK designed to address the operational and administrative challenges currently faced by municipalities and EOA entities following recent reforms. The meetings served as a platform for identifying specific obstacles in local governance and coordinating efforts to improve the efficiency of self-government organizations across the island. By finishing this cycle, ETEK has solidified its commitment to provide technical and expert support to assist these organizations in overcoming management hurdles.
