Stelios Andreou unlikely to join Maccabi Tel Aviv
Cypriot defender Stelios Andreou will not be joining the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to his agent Christos Mylonas. Although reports from Israeli media and other sources suggested advanced negotiations between the parties, Mylonas stated with certainty on July 28, 2026, that the player will continue his career in a different league.
Andreou is currently under contract with the Polish club Widzew Lodz. He was recently excluded from the team's squad during the Polish league opener, with head coach Aleksandar Vukovic confirming that negotiations regarding his departure are underway. The coach noted that the player requested to be left out of the squad to avoid the risk of injury that could jeopardize a potential transfer. While reports initially linked him to Maccabi Tel Aviv, his representation has clarified that a move to Israel is no longer on the table.
