Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture funds cultural events for wildfire-affected communities

The Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus has announced a new round of funding to support 16 communities in the mountainous region of Limassol that were affected by wildfires in July 2025. Each of these communities will receive a one-time grant of 3,000 euros to organize cultural events of their choice throughout 2026. This initiative aims to revitalize the area, encourage social interaction among residents, and attract visitors from across the country.

This funding represents a continuation of support measures implemented by the government following the catastrophic fires last year. In 2025, the ministry provided a total of 50,000 euros for various activities, including art exhibitions, musical performances, and theatrical shows, alongside efforts to protect local monuments and cultural heritage. The communities have the option to collaborate with one another to combine resources for larger events. According to official statements, the ministry decided to extend the financial support for another year in response to direct requests from the affected communities, deeming the previous year's efforts a significant success.
