Seven people die in helicopter crash in Argentina
On Wednesday, a Bell 412 helicopter crashed in the Ischigualasto National Park in the San Juan province of western Argentina, killing all seven people on board. The aircraft went missing on Tuesday morning while en route to a firefighting mission in the neighboring La Rioja province, approximately 1,200 kilometers from Buenos Aires. The crash site was later located by another aircraft operating in the area.
San Juan Governor Marcelo Orrego confirmed the tragedy via social media, noting that the victims included high-ranking officials from the fire department, police, civil protection, and the Federal Emergency Agency (AFE). According to the AFE, the helicopter had been participating in training exercises prior to the intended firefighting deployment. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the crash site to conduct recovery operations following the discovery of the wreckage.
