APOEL concludes Dutch training camp with friendly defeat

APOEL Nicosia has been conducting its primary summer training camp in the Netherlands under coach Nikos Papadopoulos, with administrative leaders Charis Fotiou and Nikos Kougialis traveling to the site to oversee preparations. The squad, which aims to improve its tactical identity and intensity ahead of a challenging domestic season featuring four consecutive derbies against AEK, AEL, Anorthosis, and Apollon, is currently undergoing significant roster adjustments overseen by sporting director Zisis Vryzas.

In their final high-profile friendly in the Netherlands on July 31, APOEL was defeated 2-1 by Fortuna Sittard. Fortuna, preparing for their own Eredivisie opener, established a 2-0 lead through goals by Bridjin and Romenni before Joan Sastre narrowed the deficit with a free-kick. The match saw a concerning moment when Angel Garcia was forced off in the 27th minute following a collision with Konstantinos Laifis. Garcia was substituted as a precaution.

Management continues to prioritize the acquisition of a center forward and a defensive midfielder to complete the team's composition.
