Apollon Limassol in advanced talks to sign Iké Ugbo

Apollon Limassol is finalizing an agreement to sign 27-year-old striker Iké Ugbo on loan from Sheffield Wednesday, where the player is under contract until 2028. The Canadian international, who holds dual eligibility through his Nigerian heritage, has been identified by head coach Hernán Losada as a primary target to lead the team's attacking line following the departure of Pedro Marques. Losada and Ugbo are familiar with each other from their time in the Belgian league, where the striker had his most productive season in 2020-21 with Cercle Brugge, scoring 17 goals in 34 matches.

The transfer process is currently in its final stages, with a preliminary agreement reportedly already in place. The player is expected to arrive in Cyprus shortly to undergo mandatory medical examinations. If the results are satisfactory, the loan deal will be officially activated. This acquisition is seen as a key strategic move for the club as they prepare for their upcoming Conference League qualification matches against Brann and the domestic season. In addition to securing Ugbo, the club is also reportedly exploring further options to strengthen their roster with the addition of a winger.
