Limassol municipality meets with government officials to accelerate strategic projects
On July 29, 2026, a high-level meeting took place at the Presidential Palace in Cyprus to coordinate the advancement of key development projects for the city of Limassol. The meeting was requested by the Mayor of Limassol, Yiannis Armeftis, to secure broader government support and set clear implementation timelines.
The delegation included Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki, Minister of Interior Constantinos Ioannou, Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades, and Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment Dr. Maria Panayiotou. Representing the technical and planning aspects were the Director of the Department of Town Planning and Housing, Kyriakos Koundouros, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth and various state services.
The discussions focused on priority initiatives, including the Aktaia Odos project, the regeneration of the coastal front, road infrastructure, housing proposals, sustainable mobility, and the revitalization of the city center. Mayor Armeftis emphasized the need for a productive collaboration with the government to strengthen the city's growth, environmental resilience, and overall urban infrastructure. The meeting served as a formal venue to present these strategic priorities and establish the necessary coordination for future progress.
