Cyprus approves digital platform for non-compliant product reporting

On July 30, 2026, the Cypriot Council of Ministers approved a proposal by the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry to establish a centralized digital platform for the reporting and publication of non-compliant products found in the local market. Currently, market surveillance authorities perform daily inspections to ensure product safety and enforce the withdrawal of items that fail to meet legal standards. Previously, such data was dispersed across various government departments. The new system aims to aggregate this information into a single, user-friendly portal. The platform will be updated directly by market surveillance authorities and will integrate European Union alert systems to monitor products that may affect the Cypriot market.

This project represents a significant shift toward digital governance in consumer safety, providing citizens with immediate access to recall notices. While the approval has been finalized, specific technical timelines for the platform's launch have not yet been announced.
