University of Cyprus to launch four English-language undergraduate programs

On July 30, 2026, the Cyprus Council of Ministers officially approved the introduction of four new undergraduate programs taught in English at the University of Cyprus. This decision marks a significant expansion of the university's internationalization strategy, aiming to attract both local and international students. The Rector of the university, Tasos Christofides, publicly welcomed the government's approval, describing it as a key milestone for the institution’s growth and its ability to adapt to the changing needs of the global labor market.

The newly authorized programs include a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, which serves as the Medical School’s first English-language undergraduate offering. Additionally, the university will launch degrees in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance), Business Administration (Marketing, Operations Management, or Management), and Economics (Economic Theory, Econometrics, or International and European Economic Studies).

University officials have confirmed that intensive preparations are already underway to ensure all curricula meet the institution's high academic standards. The university plans to officially launch these programs in September 2027. This initiative is expected to broaden the educational scope of the university, providing students with increased flexibility and professional opportunities in a competitive academic environment.
