University of Cyprus to launch four new English-language undergraduate programmes

The Council of Ministers of Cyprus has approved the introduction of four new English-language undergraduate programmes at the University of Cyprus. This decision marks a significant milestone in the institution's internationalisation strategy, aiming to attract students from both Cyprus and abroad by broadening the availability of degree courses in English.

The approved programmes include a degree in Medicine (MD) and three programmes under the Faculty of Economics and Management: Business Administration in Accounting or Finance; Business Administration in Marketing, Operations Management or Management; and Economics, covering Economic Theory, Econometrics, and International and European Economic Studies. These additions represent the first English-language undergraduate track offered by the University's Medical School.

Rector Tasos Christofides expressed satisfaction with the approval, highlighting that the new curricula are designed to meet modern labour market needs. Preparations are currently in full swing to ensure all programmes meet the institution's high academic quality standards. The university plans to welcome its first cohort for these courses starting in September 2027. This initiative follows a previous, smaller-scale approval of an inter-university foreign-language undergraduate programme, reflecting the university's ongoing commitment to strengthening its global presence.
