The EU invests in artificial intelligence: Up to seven AI gigafactories with 10 billion euros of public support

The European Commission has launched a call for bids to establish up to seven artificial intelligence gigafactories across Europe, aiming to position the continent as a leader in AI technology. Supported by 10 billion euros in public funding, the project expects to mobilize an additional 20 billion euros in private investment to provide infrastructure for startups and research. Greece is among the 18 participating member states, leveraging its existing Pharos facility to secure a role in this strategic initiative that involves collaboration with US chip giants.
