Acting mayor of Paphos calls for public cooperation to maintain city cleanliness

On July 30, 2026, the acting mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, issued a formal appeal to residents, urging them to actively assist in maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetic standards of the city. Highlighting the initiative titled "Together we keep Paphos clean," the administration emphasized the necessity of public partnership to ensure the effectiveness of municipal operations.

Currently, the Paphos municipality employs over 100 workers who perform daily tasks, including the maintenance of green spaces, general cleaning, waste collection, and the removal of bulky items. Despite these efforts, the mayor noted that the city faces challenges with improper waste disposal. Onisiforou specifically requested that citizens refrain from abandoning furniture, tree clippings, and other large objects on sidewalks or public thoroughfares. Residents are instead advised to utilize designated "Green Points" or follow established official procedures for the disposal of such materials to ensure the city remains functional and safe.
