Indonesian man killed and swallowed by seven-meter python

A 35-year-old man named Hashim Lubesi died after being attacked and swallowed whole by a seven-meter python in the Maluku province of Indonesia. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 27, 2026, while the victim was walking home through a forest to his village, Waksakai, after visiting a bar.

According to reports from the Sula Islands police, the python initially bit the man on the leg before constricting and suffocating him. Family members and fellow villagers initiated a search when Lubesi failed to return home. During the search, they discovered blood on the ground along with the victim’s personal belongings, including his backpack and sandals. The villagers subsequently located the snake with a distended stomach; upon cutting the animal open, they found the victim's remains inside.

This rare and fatal encounter highlights the persistent dangers faced by residents in remote Indonesian regions where large predatory wildlife remains prevalent.
