Cyprus police conduct nationwide crime prevention operations

The Cyprus Police carried out intensified, nationwide crime prevention operations across urban areas to ensure public order and safety. While reporting sources provide varying figures based on the timing of their updates, the operations resulted in multiple arrests for offenses including drug possession, illegal residency, traffic violations, and in some accounts, serious criminal charges such as attempted murder, assault, and abduction.

Operational data shows significant activity: depending on the reported timeframe, between 440 and 788 individuals were checked, with 37 to 43 inspections conducted on commercial premises resulting in one reported violation. Traffic enforcement saw between 191 and 382 citations, with speed limit violations being a primary focus. Additionally, police performed 320 breathalyzer tests, identifying 21 drivers under the influence of alcohol, while drug tests and vehicle impoundments were also recorded as part of the crackdown.

The initiative was designed to increase the public's sense of security through visibility and proactive policing. The police continue to monitor key areas to address criminality and maintain order throughout the Republic of Cyprus.
