Cyprus Police conduct nationwide security operations resulting in 11 arrests

Overnight on July 30-31, 2026, the Cyprus Police executed a series of coordinated security operations across the country to prevent criminal activity and enhance public safety. These efforts focused on major urban centers, involving widespread patrols, traffic stops, and checks on commercial establishments.

The operation resulted in 11 arrests for various offenses, including illegal drug possession, violations of immigration law, and obtaining money under false pretenses. Authorities stopped 440 drivers and 133 passengers, conducting 191 traffic violation reports, 92 of which were specifically for speeding. Additionally, officers inspected 37 premises, leading to one formal complaint, and impounded three vehicles as part of ongoing investigations into traffic-related offenses.
