Police conduct nationwide security operations across Cyprus

Cypriot police conducted a series of intensive, nationwide preventive patrols between July 31 and August 2, 2026, aimed at maintaining public order and preventing serious criminal activities. During these operations, police intercepted hundreds of vehicles and conducted numerous checks on individuals and commercial premises across urban areas. The results of these operations varied daily, with police reports indicating a total of 11 arrests on July 31, followed by 10 arrests on August 1 and August 2, respectively.

Law enforcement authorities reported a wide range of offenses throughout the period, including drug possession, illegal residency, attempted murder, kidnapping, and traffic violations. Specific traffic-related data included hundreds of reported speeding incidents, numerous DUI citations, and the seizure of dozens of vehicles. Investigations into these incidents remain ongoing, as police continue to utilize targeted, high-visibility patrols to enhance public safety perceptions and address delinquency in key metropolitan locations.
