ETYFA launches tender to complete the Vasilikos LNG terminal

The Natural Gas Infrastructure Company (ETYFA) officially launched a tender on July 30, 2026, to complete the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal in Vasilikos. This development occurs exactly two years after the unilateral termination of the contract with the Chinese contractor CPP, which had originally won the project in 2019.

The new contract is valued at an estimated €180 million and spans a duration of two years. The procurement process follows a restricted procedure, which includes a mandatory prequalification phase. Interested parties must submit applications by September 9, 2026, after which only preselected candidates will be invited to submit full technical and financial bids. The scope of work encompasses remaining construction tasks for the terminal, offshore fabrication, and specialized engineering and inspection services. The contract will be awarded based on the best price-quality ratio.

This project represents a critical component of Cyprus's energy infrastructure strategy. While the previous contract with CPP faced significant delays leading to its termination in July 2024, the current initiative aims to finalize the facility's construction. The tender is open to various entities, including small and medium-sized enterprises that meet the technical requirements, with no provision for contract renewal.
