67-year-old man arrested in Paphos for solar panel fraud
Police in Paphos arrested a 67-year-old man on the night of July 30, 2026, following the execution of an active arrest warrant. The suspect is accused of obtaining €9,800 through false pretenses in an incident dating back to January 2024.
The suspect allegedly posed as the owner of a company and entered into an agreement with a complainant to install photovoltaic systems. After receiving the full payment of €9,800, he failed to perform the agreed-upon work. Subsequent police investigations revealed that no company existed under the name provided by the suspect.
The case is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Paphos. Authorities are continuing their inquiries into the circumstances of the fraud to determine if there are additional victims or further details regarding the suspect's activities.
