67-year-old man arrested in Paphos for solar panel installation fraud
Cypriot police arrested a 67-year-old man on the night of July 30, 2026, following an investigation into a fraud case involving the illegal extraction of money under false pretenses. The suspect was previously wanted under an active arrest warrant.
The case dates back to January 2024 in the Paphos district, where the suspect allegedly posed as a company owner to secure a contract for the installation of photovoltaic panels. According to the complaint, he received 9,800 euros from the victim but failed to complete the promised work. Further police investigations revealed that the company name provided by the suspect does not exist in the official business registry.
The Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (TAE) is currently handling the case and continues to conduct examinations to determine the full extent of the suspect's actions and potential involvement in other similar incidents.
