Omonia prepares for Europa League third qualifying round against Lincoln Red Imps
Following an elimination by Kairat Almaty, Omonia is shifting focus to its Europa League campaign. The Cypriot club is set to face Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps in the third qualifying round, with the primary goal of securing a spot in a European group stage for the sixth time in seven years. The team has resumed preparations at Yeri, as manager Henning Berg manages fitness concerns regarding midfielder Carel Eiting, who missed the previous match due to a minor injury.
Despite the Champions League exit, Omonia remains committed to its original transfer plan, which includes adding a goalkeeper, a central defender, and an attacking midfielder to the squad. The club is also awaiting potential developments regarding a possible disciplinary penalty for player Kakoullis. Lincoln Red Imps, known as the dominant force in Gibraltar’s football league, have reported stable finances, with UEFA distributions playing a significant role in their revenue, reaching over 4.6 million euros in 2025.
Omonia holds the status of a seeded team for the upcoming play-off draw scheduled for August 3, which could potentially grant them a more favorable path if they successfully bypass the Lincoln challenge.
