Four workers injured in machinery accident in Marathounta

On the morning of July 31, 2026, a serious workplace accident occurred in Marathounta, Paphos, when road construction machinery overturned while in operation. Four workers were on board the vehicle during the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. under conditions that remain under investigation.

Three of the workers managed to exit the overturned machinery on their own, while the fourth individual became trapped. The Fire Service arrived on the scene to perform an extraction operation. All four workers were subsequently transported to the Paphos General Hospital. While the three workers were initially sent for preventive medical checkups, the fourth required rescue and medical attention. Reports indicate that the victims' injuries are generally not considered to be of a life-threatening nature.

Authorities, including the Police, the Paphos District Administration, and the Department of Labour Inspection, are currently conducting an investigation into the exact circumstances and causes of the accident. Further inquiries will determine whether safety regulations were followed during the road repair operations.
