Diplomatic efforts for Cyprus talks and cabinet reshuffle speculation

The UN has appointed an academic constitutional expert, who previously participated in the negotiation process, to assist in these preparations. President Christodoulides is scheduled to chair a meeting of the National Council on August 3 to brief party leaders on the latest developments following visits from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and EU envoy Raffaele Fitto.

Simultaneously, the President has faced intense media speculation regarding a potential government reshuffle. While rumors suggested imminent announcements, the President maintained that reshuffles are formal decisions to be announced at the appropriate time rather than objects of public speculation. Reports indicated that the President was displeased with media leaks regarding potential cabinet members. Political parties, including DISY, have expressed irritation over the ongoing uncertainty and leaks, with some figures calling for transparency from officials rumored to be involved in the new cabinet lineup.
