Cbc tightens licensing rules for payment and money firms

The Central Bank of Cyprus is set to implement stricter licensing procedures for payment and electronic money institutions starting August 3, 2026. The new regulations introduce a mandatory pre-application phase with a €5,000 fee and increase formal application costs to €10,000. These measures aim to enhance transparency, improve early risk detection, and ensure higher standards for entities operating within the financial sector.
