Cyprus Tax Department sets October 31 deadline for 2025 income tax returns

The Cyprus Tax Department has announced that the deadline for filing income tax returns for the 2025 tax year is October 31, 2026. Chief Tax Officer Marios Michael warned that failure to meet this deadline will result in an automatic administrative fine of €150, which applies even if no tax liability is due. Additional interest and charges will be imposed if a tax payment is owed and remains outstanding beyond the deadline.

According to the latest data from the Tax Department, approximately 66,500 individuals have initiated the process via the Taxisnet portal. Of these, 54,000 have completed their final submission, while 12,500 remain in a temporary receipt status. Authorities emphasized that temporary receipt does not constitute an official submission. The current volume of filings represents about 19.5% of the total declarations recorded for the 2024 tax year. Officials are urging taxpayers to finalize their filings early to avoid the last-minute rush and the imposition of unnecessary financial penalties.

This filing period marks the final year before the implementation of the comprehensive tax reform. Taxpayers are advised to ensure their filings are submitted correctly and permanently through the Taxisnet system well before the October deadline.
