Nicosia district organization launches digital registry for dangerous buildings

The District Self-Government Organization (EOA) of Nicosia has officially launched a new digital service that provides citizens with real-time information regarding buildings deemed dangerous or in need of repair. The service features an interactive map and a search function categorized by administrative area, aiming to enhance public access to safety data across the Nicosia district.

Currently, the registry contains 712 structures, of which 657 are classified as dangerous and 55 as requiring repair. Geographically, 310 of these buildings are located in urban areas, while 402 are situated in rural communities, spanning 72 administrative divisions. The data within the registry is updated automatically to reflect the ongoing work of the EOA’s Dangerous Buildings Division.

This initiative follows the transfer of responsibility from former authorities—including municipalities and the Nicosia District Administration—which took place on April 30, 2025. The EOA continues to conduct on-site inspections to evaluate legacy cases inherited from the previous system, as well as newly identified structures. The platform serves as a central hub for monitoring compliance and safety status for all buildings within the organization's jurisdiction.
