Police conduct wide-ranging anti-drug and migration enforcement operations across Cyprus

Cypriot authorities conducted a series of enforcement operations over the weekend of August 2-3, 2026, targeting illegal immigration and drug-related offenses. In Limassol, 40 third-country nationals were arrested for illegal stay in the Republic of Cyprus, with plans for immediate deportation underway. Meanwhile, anti-drug unit YKAN conducted raids in Nicosia, arresting a 35-year-old man after discovering an indoor cannabis cultivation operation featuring nine plants, alongside 1.615 kilograms of cannabis and 90 grams of suspected cocaine. The suspect appeared before the Nicosia District Court and was remanded in custody for eight days.

In separate developments, two individuals were arrested in a Nicosia apartment for illegal residency and possession of cannabis and precision scales, receiving seven-day remand orders. Separately, Larnaca authorities arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with an investigation into a March 2026 seizure of 359 grams of cocaine. Furthermore, a nationwide police campaign on August 3-4 resulted in 19 arrests for various offenses and numerous traffic violations, following the inspection of 686 vehicles and 854 individuals. Police report that these efforts are part of ongoing initiatives to ensure public order and combat criminal activities across the country.
