Netflix faces 105 million dollar lawsuit over lost Nicolas Cage war film

Netflix is facing a 105 million dollar lawsuit filed by the producers of the unreleased World War II film "Fortitude," which stars Nicolas Cage, Ed Skrein, Ben Kingsley, and Michael Sheen. The legal action alleges that the streaming giant lost the production's only unencrypted master copy, which was stored on a hard drive that vanished during a theft at the company's headquarters in Los Angeles.

The film, directed by Simon West and written by Swiss entrepreneur Simon Afram, reportedly cost 45 million dollars to produce. Producers claim that the loss of the master drive resulted in the total destruction of the project. The lawsuit underscores growing concerns regarding the security of digital content and the enforcement of contractual obligations between independent studios and major streaming platforms during the handling of physical master media.
