Olympiacos announces squad for Champions League qualifiers against NEC Nijmegen
Olympiacos has finalized its 25-man squad for the upcoming third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League against NEC Nijmegen. Head coach José Luis Mendilibar has opted to include Balsa Popovic as the primary goalkeeper, explicitly leaving out the newly acquired Stefan Ortega due to his current lack of match readiness. The squad list also notably excludes forwards Mehdi Taremi and Roman Yaremchuk, alongside players André Luís and Clayton, signaling potential departures for the two strikers as the team scouts for new offensive reinforcements.
In addition to the roster adjustments, Olympiacos is nearing a deal to acquire 24-year-old Moroccan left-back Anass Salah-Eddine from Roma, likely on a loan basis with an option to purchase for seven to eight million euros. With Ayoub El Kaabi serving as the primary striker, the team will rely on supporting wingers like Jota and Giorgos Masouras during these matches. The club retains the right to make two additional changes to its European list before Monday, after which the roster will be locked for the upcoming fixtures against the Dutch side.
