Ilias Kostis transfers to Castellon from Atletico Madrid

Cypriot defender Ilias Kostis has completed a permanent transfer from Atletico Madrid to the Spanish La Liga 2 side Castellon. The 23-year-old player, born in Thessaloniki, has signed a contract with the club that runs until June 30, 2030, marking a significant step in his professional career after years within the Madrid youth system.

The transfer fee is reported by Spanish media to be approximately €500,000. This financial figure has reportedly met with criticism from some Atletico Madrid fans, who had anticipated a higher valuation for the player. The transfer concludes Kostis's tenure with the Madrid club, where he notably made his first-team debut in the UEFA Champions League against Feyenoord in October 2023.

Kostis originally began his development at APOEL Nicosia before moving to the Atletico Madrid academy in 2019.
