Police officer struck by motorcyclist in Larnaca

On the evening of July 31, 2026, a police officer belonging to the Z-Team was struck by a motorcycle while conducting a traffic stop on Ankara Street in Larnaca. The incident occurred at approximately 19:30 when the officer signaled for the motorcycle driver to stop for an inspection. Instead of complying, the driver accelerated, hit the officer, and fled the scene.

The injured officer was transported by ambulance to the Larnaca General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a serious injury to his right arm. Following medical treatment, the officer was discharged with instructions. The Larnaca Traffic Department and the Petty Offenses Department have launched an investigation to identify and locate the driver. The suspect faces potential charges including assault on a police officer, causing bodily harm, and reckless or dangerous driving.
