Smoke from fires in Boeotia, Attica, and Argolis reached as far as North Africa

Smoke from major wildfires in Boeotia, Attica, and Argolis has reached as far as the coast of North Africa, covering a distance of over 750 kilometers. According to the National Observatory of Athens, satellite imagery shows the plume originating primarily from the fire near Porto Germeno. Meanwhile, storm-force winds were recorded across the region on Saturday, with gusts reaching 130 km/h in Paximada Karystou, though these winds are expected to gradually subside.
