Recent series of vehicle and property fires reported in Cyprus

Between July 31 and August 3, 2026, multiple fire incidents occurred across Cyprus, prompting interventions by the Fire Service and Police. The events began on the night of July 31, when a vehicle caught fire on the Larnaca-Nicosia highway near the Rizoelia roundabout. Subsequently, on August 1, a vehicle ignited while in motion on the Klirou-Fikardou road, with all passengers escaping unharmed. Early on August 2, a house fire in Tala, Paphos, caused extensive kitchen damage; residents safely evacuated, and officials suspect an electrical or mechanical fault. That same morning, a vehicle was completely destroyed by fire in Kouklia, Paphos, which also spread to dry vegetation in an adjacent plot.

Investigations are ongoing regarding the causes of these incidents. In a related development, on the night of August 3, a stolen motorcycle was found engulfed in flames in an open field in Limassol. Authorities have secured the scenes where necessary and are conducting further examinations to determine the origins of the fires. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents, and the sites have been cleared or remain under monitoring while the investigations continue.
