Three vehicle fires reported in Cyprus over the weekend
Over the past weekend, three separate vehicle fires were reported across Cyprus, prompting interventions from the Fire Service. On Friday evening, July 31, around 22:30, a vehicle caught fire on the Larnaca-Nicosia highway near the Rizoelia roundabout. Emergency services arrived on the scene to extinguish the flames and manage traffic safety. The following day, Saturday evening around 20:30, another vehicle caught fire while in motion on the Klirou-Fikardou road. Firefighters were deployed with two vehicles and successfully extinguished the fire; all occupants were reported safe.
The final incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, August 2, in the Kouklia area of the Paphos district. Authorities were notified around 04:00, finding a vehicle completely destroyed by fire. The blaze extended to an adjacent plot of land, burning dry vegetation. Police have cordoned off the site and placed it under guard. Investigations into the causes of the Paphos incident are ongoing, with further forensic examinations scheduled to determine the origin of the fire.
