Cyprus men's U18 handball team participates in EHF Championship II in Georgia

The Cyprus National Men’s U18 handball team traveled to Telavi, Georgia, to compete in the 2026 Men’s 18 EHF Championship II, which runs from August 2 to August 9, 2026. The roster, led by coach Petros Prokopiou, includes 16 players, with Neofytos Neofytou serving as head of the delegation.

In their opening match on August 2, the team faced Belgium, resulting in a 35-24 loss. Iakovos Liasi was the standout performer with six goals. Subsequently, on August 3, Cyprus played against Kosovo, maintaining a 14-14 tie at halftime before ultimately losing 31-22. Joseph Iouselli led the scoring in the second match with eight goals. The squad’s performance highlights the ongoing challenge of competing against international opponents in this European Handball Federation event.

Following these results, the team is preparing for their upcoming match against the host nation, Georgia, scheduled for August 5 at 17:15. Further group stage matches are planned against Great Britain on August 6 and Bulgaria on August 8, followed by classification matches on August 9.
